Job Overview
The UI/UX Designer is responsible for designing interfaces for digital solutions across various platforms
(web, mobile, kiosk, ABM and any future digital channel) to ensure the creation of visually appealing
logical, seamless, intuitive and customer friendly experiences. The UI/UX Designer will be required to
conduct user research and testing, review and use data such as web analytics, dwell time, abandonment
rates and other key metrics to optimize interface designs. The designer is also expected to be customer
oriented and focused on the use of design thinking to empathize with our customers, understand user
psychology, understand and define the problem to be solved, ideate on and create prototypes for
solutions, and test, learn and adapt using customer feedback. The UI/UX Designer will also help to
create a cohesive style guide to maintain consistency in visual elements so customers can have a
seamless and consistent experience across all of the Group’s channels and platforms.
Core Functions
The UI/UX Designer will:
Leverage design thinking principles, user research, and testing, to create intuitive and engaging
user experiences and translate concepts into wireframes, interaction models, and mock ups
Collaborate with business stakeholders and customers in order to effectively research,
conceptualize, wire-frame, sketch, and prototye digital user experiences
Engage and participate in the UI/UX design guild/chapter to ensure standardization and
proliferation of the competence across the enterprise
Gather and evaluate internal user requirements, in collaboration with business, agile labs and IT.
Illustrate design ideas for new and existing products or features using storyboards, process flows
and sitemaps
Create, maintain, and utilize style guides
Participate in key internal meetings including weekly status updates, planning, review and
retrospective sessions
Document ongoing progress on work assignments in JIRA or Zeplin and communicate these
updates during daily standups and ensuring all versions of project UI/UX documents are
complete, current, and archived appropriately.
Conduct usability tests and design implementation review across various platforms. Gather and
present results to stakeholders.
Perform global competitive analysis and customer research for projects
Research and analyze industry UI/UX trends. Propose changes to keep designs up to date, and
implement where applicable
Minimum Educational Requirements:
(a) Required Skills and Techniques:
Solid understanding of design thinking and competency in all facets of the design process.
Proven experience in Interaction Design and Technology Architecture is a bonus.
Experience with industry standard design tooling such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch,
Invision and wireframing tools and techniques
A solid grasp of user-centered research, design and testing methodologies (e.g. A/B testing),
rapid prototyping, and human-computer interaction (HCI) element of a design
Mastery of fundamental design principles such as colour theory, visual weight, balance
among others
Exposure to online tools, such as screen readers, to aid in consumer research
Solid understanding of mobile-first and responsive design
Experienced at driving a user experience from start-to-finish that delivers results
Obsessed with good user-centered design practices and have an eye for detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environment
(b) Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Digital Media Design, Fine Arts,
Computer Science, User Experience Design or related field.
3 - 5 years of UI/UX design experience (and supporting portfolio) as a key, hands-on
interaction/visual designer of a UI/UX team through the entire product development cycle
(starting from user research) of successfully launched web, mobile, and/or software
applications.
