This is a supervisory function hence the primary duties of a foreman are managerial. You are a leader
with responsibility for given projects within the industry/bakery, a go to person for line team members
for all matters including those to be communicated to upper management. Knowledge of contractual
terms and agreements is a necessary to effectively perform in this capacity.
You must be proactive, flexible and result oriented. A problem solver versus a complainer.
Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and
appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and
enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Manage all the day to day operations of the manufacturing operation
The ability to produce/oversee the production of all baked products
Be observant and proactive in planning
Train, direct, supervise staff and, if necessary, initiate/recommend disciplinary actions or rewards for crew
members and other workers.
Help resolve employees’ grievances with one another or complaints about the work environment, the
foreman is often the go-to person who relates these issues to upper management.
Ensure compliance to agreed terms of employment
Communicating matters such as assigning overtime or disciplining an employee by making
recommendations regarding same to your direct report or Human Resource
Coordinate employees’ efforts to ensure a smooth and proficient work flow so end products are ready in
a timely manner to meet deadlines
Ensure/assist in the production and maintenance of par stock of baked products, observing proper
rotation of both raw material and baked products using FIFO method and appropriate storage to
eliminate spoilage
Monitoring Departments budget through efficient management of inventory of both raw materials and
finished product
Enforcing compliance to the standard of cleanliness and hygiene for both work environment and staff in
accordance with Ministry of Health
Evaluate progress and provide assistance and direction to increase efficiency and minimize cost incurred
by wastage, negligence, accidents or incidents
Check quality of material, ensuring taste, texture is of consistent quality and within company’s standards.
Ability to appealing finishes by producing/overseeing the production of decorated pastries using different
icings; toppings, finishing/edible garnish
Ability to customize production based on client’s specification, events or season e.g. for events as
weddings, banquets and special events (independence, Christmas, Easter etc.)
Ensure equipment/machinery are in working condition
Communicate with other departments or personnel to ensure completion of tasks /projects.
Attend all scheduled meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
Compliance
Ensuring proper handling and procedures of all products and the production process, maintaining correct
temperatures during and after production.
Ensuring compliance to all regulatory standards (Ministry of Health, Bureau of standards, Fisheries,
Company Standards etc.)
Immediately Report all faulty/malfunctioning or equipment maintenance issues, potential hazards or
unsafe practices and procedures to relevant personnel.
Human Resource/Qualifications:
Possess a positive attitude, be a team player harnessing strengths of all team members to achieve
efficient effective output.
Encourage and maintain employee morale by building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team
members
Coach Operations Team, providing guidance and motivation to ensure an amicable productive work
environment
Identify staffing needs and assist in resolving (suggesting recruits, protective gears, better work
conditions)
Foreman Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum Education & amp; Experience
High School Certification / Regional Passes (Food & amp; Nutrition)
Experience in manufacturing or related field is preferred
Food Handler’s Permit
Certification / Diploma in Food and Nutrition or Food Management
Strong Leadership and communication skills, work focused attitude and desire to work with other team
members
