Duties
– include
but are not limited to;
·
Fold napkins and polish silverware
·
Replenish condiments (Sugar, salt, pepper, ketchup etc.)
·
Brew coffee and make hot water for teas
·
Stock service areas with supplies such
as coffee, food, tableware and linen
·
Greet and seat guests strategically
·
Take orders from guest then communicate
them to the necessary channels. (Biller, kitchen, bar Cashier)
·
Serve meals and beverages according to
established standards
·
Check IDs before serving alcoholic
beverages if in doubt that a guest meets the required age for alcohol
consumption
·
Make suggestions and up-sell as much as
possible, without being overbearing
·
Prepare and present customers with
checks, displaying the different menu items selected and the total cost.
·
Collect final payment from guests
·
Remove items from table taking them to
the necessary areas for cleaning
·
Clean and reset tables
Responsibilities
– include
but are not limited to;
·
Ensure work area is clean at all times
·
Check menus to see that they are in good
presentable condition for the guests
·
Ensure there are enough menus available
to the guests depending on expectancy for the day
·
Report any menu that needs replacing to
the Office
·
Have a sound knowledge of all menu items
including; daily specials, preparation methods portion sizes etc.
·
Ensure that all items that are needed to
carry out your job is available and sufficiently stocked (eg. Back up linen in
the event of a spill)
·
Have a good knowledge of different
wines, proper serving techniques and what glass they are served in.
·
Ensure guest expectations are met and if
necessary/possible, correct the problem/shortfall
Report all guest
complaints to your supervisor/Director
