- MAINTAIN CUSTOMER CONFIDENCE AND PROTECT OPERATIONS BY KEEPING FINANCIAL INFORMATION CONFIDENTIAL.
- ASSIST IN PREPARING ASSET, LIABILITY, AND CAPITAL ACCOUNT ENTRIES BY COMPILING AND ANALYZING ACCOUNT INFORMATION.
- SUMMARIZE CURRENT FINANCIAL STATUS BY COLLECTING INFORMATION; PREPARING BALANCE SHEET, PROFIT AND LOSS STATEMENT, AND OTHER REPORTS.
- RECONCILE FINANCIAL DISCREPANCIES BY COLLECTING AND ANALYZING ACCOUNT INFORMATION.
- MAINTAIN ACCOUNTING CONTROLS BY PREPARING AND RECOMMENDING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
- PREPARE PAYMENTS BY VERIFYING DOCUMENTATION, AND REQUESTING DISBURSEMENTS.
- PREPARE SPECIAL FINANCIAL REPORTS BY COLLECTING, ANALYZING, AND SUMMARIZING ACCOUNT INFORMATION AND TRENDS.
- BALANCE AND RECONCILE COMPANY’S ACCOUNTS
- MANAGE THE CAPITAL BUDGETING PROCESS, BASED ON CONSTRAINT ANALYSIS AND DISCOUNTED CASH FLOW ANALYSIS
- INTERPRET THE COMPANY'S FINANCIAL RESULTS TO MANAGE AND RECOMMEND IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES
- ENGAGE IN ONGOING COST REDUCTION ANALYSES IN ALL AREAS OF THE COMPANY AND CONTRIBUTE TO TEAM EFFORTS BY ACCOMPLISHING RELATED RESULTS AS NEEDED
- RESEARCH AND REPORT ON FACTORS INFLUENCING BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
- CONTRIBUTE TO TEAM EFFORT BY ACCOMPLISHING RELATED RESULTS AS NEEDED.
- ENSURING COMPLIANCE WITH TAX REGULATIONS GOVERNING PAYMENT TO VENDORS INCLUDING COMPANIES, CONSULTANTS AND SKILLED LABOUR
- PREPARING ALL PAYROLL JOURNALS TO UPDATE PAYABLE ACCOUNTS, EMPLOYER EXPENSE ACCOUNTS AND SALARY CLEARING ACCOUNTS.
- ENSURING TIMELY SUBMISSION OF MONTHLY PAYROLL REMITTANCES AND RETURNS (SO1 / SO2) TO THE INLAND REVENUE.
- WORK CLOSELY WITH THE DIRECTORS TO KEEP THEM UPDATED ABOUT THE STATE OF AFFAIRS
- RESEARCHING AND ANALYZING ACCOUNTING DATA; AND PRODUCING AD-HOC REPORTS AS REQUIRED BY MANAGEMENT.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- MINIMUM OF ONE (1) YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN A SIMILAR CAPACITY IN A SMALL BUSINESS(ES)
- CERTIFIED CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT OR CURRENTLY COMPLETING LEVEL I ACCA
- SAGE ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
- FIRST DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, MANAGEMENT STUDIES, FINANCE, ECONOMICS OR EQUIVALENT
- MASTERS DEGREE IN FINANCE & PLANNING, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR EQUIVALENT (AN ASSET)
- EXPERIENCE IN MAINTAINING A HIGH LEVEL OF CONFIDENTIALITY
- COMPUTER SKILLS INCLUDING THE ABILITY TO OPERATE COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING, SPREADSHEET AND WORD PROCESSING PROGRAMS, AND EMAIL AT A HIGHLY PROFICIENT LEVEL;
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- DETAILED KNOWLEDGE OF THE LOCAL (JAMAICAN) GENERAL ACCEPTED ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES INCLUDING TAX COMPLIANCE AND PAYROLL
- ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY VERBALLY AND IN WRITING;
- ABILITY TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH EMPLOYEES AND THE PUBLIC
- ABILITY TO MAINTAIN COMPOSURE AND COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY UNDER STRESS; ABILITY TO PERFORM EFFECTIVELY UNDER COMPETING AND/OR CONFLICTING DEMANDS ON TIME AND SELF IN A BUSY ENVIRONMENT; SKILL AND TACT IN DEALING WITH OTHERS
- ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY PREPARE AND DELIVER PRESENTATIONS ON BEHALF OF THE ORGANIZATION
- IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE
- PERFORM ALL OTHER DUTIES REQUESTED BY SUPERVISOR;
