Description:
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OVERALL DIRECTION, CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT OF ALL ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE MANUFACTURING MARKETING AND LOGISTICAL OPERATIONS OF THE COMPANY TO ENSURE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE COMPANY’S GOALS
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PLANNING AND FORECASTING:
- DEVELOPS STRATEGIC AND ANNUAL OPERATIONAL PLANS AND BUDGETS FOR THE MANUFACTURING, MARKETING AND LOGISTICAL OPERATIONS OF THE COMPANY AND GENERALLY OVERSEES THEIR PREPARATION AND IMPLEMENTATION TO ENSURE MAXIMUM CAPACITY UTILIZATION OF THE MANUFACTURING PLANT AND WAREHOUSING FACILITIES IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE COMPANY’S STRATEGIC, GROWTH AND PROFIT OBJECTIVES.
- WORKS WITH MD AND CFO TO ENSURE ADEQUATE FINANCING TO SUPPORT SHORT- AND LONG-TERM GOALS.
PRODUCTION AND PRODUCTIVITY:
- PROVIDES GENERAL OVERSIGHT OF ALL OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND ASSURES SMOOTH FUNCTIONING AND, EFFICIENT COMPANY OPERATIONS;
- ASSURES PRODUCTION QUALITY AND ORGANISATIONAL STABILITY THROUGH DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF STANDARDS AND CONTROLS, SYSTEMS, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES, AND REGULAR EVALUATIONS;
- IDENTIFIES, ADOPTS AND ADAPTS TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES TO MEET THE COMPANY’S COMPETITIVE OBJECTIVES WITHIN THE MARKETPLACE;
- DIRECTS AND CO-COORDINATES PRODUCTION ACCORDING TO QUALITY AND QUANTITY SPECIFICATIONS WITHIN COST OBJECTIVES;
- OVERSEES THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PRODUCTION PLANS ENSURING COORDINATION WITH MARKETING AND SALES PERSONNEL; THE PM AND CFO IN RESPECT OF REQUISITIONS FOR PROCUREMENT OF RAW MATERIALS AND PACKAGING; AND MANUFACTURING OF THE COMPANY’S RANGE OF PRODUCTS;
- LEADS THE IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW MANUFACTURING INITIATIVES, ENSURING STRATEGIC RESOURCE ALLOCATION AND APPLYING GOOD MANUFACTURING PRINCIPLES, LEADERSHIP, INTEGRATION OF PRODUCTION SYSTEMS AND TECHNIQUES FOR IMPROVED EFFICIENCIES AND ADHERENCE TO BEST PRACTICES;
- GUIDES THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROGRAMMES TO ACHIEVE QUALITY CERTIFICATION, SUCH AS HACCP AND/OR ISO.
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
- WORKING WITH THE HRM, ASSURES A WORK ENVIRONMENT THAT RECRUITS, RETAINS, AND SUPPORTS QUALITY STAFF. ASSURES A ROBUST PROCESS FOR SELECTING, DEVELOPMENT, MOTIVATING, AND EVALUATING STAFF;
- ENSURES THAT ALL REPORTING DIVISIONS ARE PROPERLY STAFFED AND CO-ORDINATED TO PERFORM THEIR DUTIES EFFECTIVELY;
- PROVIDES STRONG LEADERSHIP TO EMPLOYEES, ENSURING HIGH MORALE, TEAM WORK AND GOOD EMPLOYEE RELATIONS, AT ALL LEVELS;
- SUPERVISES AND PROVIDES TECHNICAL GUIDANCE TO SUBORDINATES;
- IN LIAISON WITH THE HRM, APPRAISES PERFORMANCE OF SUBORDINATES;
REPORTING AND PROBLEM SOLVING:
- PREPARES AND SUBMITS DETAILED WEEKLY, MONTHLY, AND ANNUAL REPORTS TO THE MD ENSURING THAT THE MD IS FULLY INFORMED ON THE PROGRESS IN MEETING THE TARGETS IN THE ANNUAL OPERATIONAL PLAN;
- IDENTIFIES PROBLEMS AND OPPORTUNITIES AND ADDRESSES THEM; BRINGS THOSE WHICH ARE APPROPRIATE TO THE MD; AND, FACILITATES DISCUSSION AND DELIBERATION.
