ROLE AND CORE FUNCTION OF JOB
TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COMPANY’S MANUFACTURING PROCESSES, ENSURING THAT THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT IN RELATION TO OUTPUT, PRODUCTIVITY, QUALITY, INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, SAFETY, 5-S AND ISO REQUIREMENTS ARE CONSISTENTLY MET.
DUTIES
USING THE MONTHLY PRODUCTION PLAN IN COMBINATION WITH THE “SPECIAL ORDERS” LIST AND THE “MIN MAX” STOCK TRACKING REPORT, GENERATE A WEEKLY MANUFACTURING PLAN.
ADJUST WEEKLY MANUFACTURING PLAN AS NECESSARY WITH REGARD TO CHANGING PRIORITIES AND PROBLEMS RELATED TO EQUIPMENT OR RAW MATERIALS.
REQUEST MIXING SLIPS (BATCH SHEETS) AS REQUIRED.
DELIVER MIXING SLIPS (BATCH SHEETS) TO RAW MATERIAL DEPARTMENT HEAD WITH INSTRUCTIONS AS TO THE ORDER OF BATCH SELECTION.
ENSURE THAT SELECTED BATCHES ARE DISTRIBUTED TO THE RELEVANT MILLS IN A TIMELY MANNER.
ENSURE THE EFFICIENT PROCESSING OF BATCHES INCLUSIVE OF REQUIRED WORK OFFS.
ENSURE THE TIMELY EFFICIENT AND ACCURATE LABELING OF CONTAINERS AND FILLING AND PACKING OF PRODUCTS AS PER REQUIREMENTS.
ENSURE THE TIMELY AND ACCURATE TRANSFER OF PRODUCTS FROM THE PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT TO THE FINISH GOODS WAREHOUSE.
ENSURE THAT ALL THE RELEVANT INFORMATION IS RECORDED ON THE MIXING SLIPS (BATCH SHEETS).
ENSURE THAT ALL OUTPUT VARIANCES OUTSIDE THE ESTABLISHED NORM ARE INVESTIGATED AND APPROPRIATE EXPLANATIONS NOTED ON THE MIXING SLIPS (BATCH SHEETS).
SIGN OFF ON ALL PROPERLY COMPLETED MIXING SLIPS (BATCH SHEETS) PRIOR TO CLOSING.
ENSURE THE PREPARATION AND SIGNING OFF OF ALL RELEVANT PACKAGING DOCUMENTS.
ENSURE THE TIMELY PURCHASE OF REQUIRED PPE’S AND OTHER INCIDENTALS REQUIRED FOR THE SMOOTH RUNNING OF THE DEPARTMENT.
PREPARE WEEKLY PAYROLL AND SUBMIT TO ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT.
PROMPTLY REPORT MALFUNCTIONING EQUIPMENT TO THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT.
ENSURE THAT ALL THE FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT ARE CONDUCTED IN A MANNER THAT SATISFIES THE REQUIREMENTS OF BOTH RELEVANT ISO STANDARDS, THE RELEVANT LEGAL AND COMPANY ESTABLISHED SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND THE ESTABLISHED 5-S STANDARDS.
ASSIST IN THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF A HARMONIOUS INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS CLIMATE IN KEEPING WITH THE COLLECTIVE LABOUR AGREEMENT.
AUTHORITY TO:-
DECIDE ON THE SEQUENCE IN WHICH PRODUCTS ARE MANUFACTURED AND FILLED.
ASSIGN WORKMEN TO DUTIES AS REQUIRED, INCLUDING SECTION LEADERS.
SCHEDULE VACATION LEAVE FOR WORKMEN.
PREPARE AND SIGN WEEKLY PAYROLL.
PREPARE PURCHASE REQUISITIONS FOR REQUIRED GOODS.
INITIATE DISCIPLINARY ACTION IN KEEPING WITH THE DISCIPLINARY CODE AS OUTLINED IN THE COLLECTIVE LABOUR AGREEMENT.

FIRST DEGREE IN A RELEVANT DISCIPLINE (EG. HUMAN RELATIONS, ENGINEERING, PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT, CHEMISTRY ETC)
ADVANCED COMPUTER SKILLS
ADVANCED TRAINING IN ISO 9001 & 14001 STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE OF THE LABOUR LAWS AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS PRACTICES
TRAINING IN SUPERVISORY MANAGEMENT.
EXPERIENCE/LEARNED DISCIPLINES
MINIMUM OF THREE YEARS WORKING EXPERIENCE IN A MANUFACTURING FACILITY
KNOWLEDGE OF THE FACTORIES ACT
KNOWLEDGE OF SAFETY REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES INCLUSIVE OF FIRST AID AND FIRE FIGHTING TRAINING.
